Teens and adolescents go through so much more than society gives them credit for, especially in this day and age. From struggles with traumatic experiences inside and outside of their home, to being bullied at school and losing their identity, the pressure to exist in a certain way weighs heavy on their shoulders and will often lead to high-risk behaviors, which further creates traumatic experiences. It can be a never-ending cycle. Any teen or adolescent that wants to break that cycle, understand their thoughts & feelings, and gain compassion for themselves is a kid I want to meet.
I have worked with kids and teens heavily impacted by trauma inside their homes, within their families and in their community and have provided them with strength-based and client-centered support in finding self-compassion. I look at thoughts, feelings, and our lived experiences as pieces of our “life puzzle” and work with clients in making the puzzle pieces make sense. I also have experience and great passion for youth who have been involved with the justice system, whether currently or previously, and supporting foster/adoption dynamics for youth.
As a teen who wasn’t appreciated as she existed, my primary goal is to meet my clients where they are and where they want to be. My work is solely focused on your well-being and what will make you thrive in the ways you want to thrive. Whether that’s through talk therapy, art therapy or play therapy, I want to collaborate with you in finding what works best for you and what you are looking for. Our work is a team-effort, and if you’re ready to start, I am too.
