My name is Peyton Shaffer and I am currently in my final year of a Master’s program at George Fox University. I am practicing under the supervision of Meegan Yassa, LMFT while finishing my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have focused my studies and training on supporting young adults, middle adults, and senior adults through life’s challenges. My approach to counseling is grounded in a Client-Centered framework, which means I prioritize creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, respected, and empowered in their healing journey. I also enjoy weaving the therapeutic techniques of Internal Family Systems into the conversation to better understand all the different moving parts of the individual, and the roles they may possess that contribute to who the client is are at their core.
I am passionate about working with individuals who are navigating the effects of trauma, as well as those adjusting to the life transitions that accompany adulthood, such as coping with life’s emotional and psychological stressors. My goal is to build a collaborative therapeutic relationship that honors each person’s unique story while supporting them in uncovering their strengths and moving toward greater resilience, confidence, and overall well-being.
Significant experience includes two years working for a case management site in Los Angeles, CA that aimed to assist low-income senior adults with housing, socialization, and substance use difficulties.
I am looking forward to hearing your story!
